Tower Hamlets Youth Drug AdviceThe youth provision is delivered in partnership with London Borough of Tower Hamlets Council Youth Support Service in line with the youth work curriculum.

The strategic aims of the Youth Centre are:

  • to be a secure place where a young person can feel comfortable
  • to access opportunities for self-development to access opportunities for self-development
  • to access information and advice from advocates whom they can trust

OBJECTIVES

  • to provide social and recreational activities
  • to build relationships with young people
  • to create a forum for educational activities in a surrounding which can deal with social issues appropriate to young people

BYM, in partnership with the LBTH Council Youth Support Service, provides for and organises a number of activities to meet the aims and objectives based at the Berner Centre, Ponler Street, London E1.

Current focus is placed upon the following youth activities:

Youth Work: ... encompassing the theme of education in its broad content
Drugs Work: ... detached and outreach work with disengaged young people potentially at risk to drugs
Employment Sessions: ... helping with CV preparations, interview skills and advice
Indoor Activities: ... pool, carom board, table tennis, football and board games
Outdoor Activities: ... football, swimming, camping trips, family outings, educational trips abroad
Berner Youth Festival: ... an annual multi-cultural festival that brings people from all walks of life together to celebrate race and faith harmony
